Letters to the Editor
November 2, 2005
I want to share with you the wonderful experience I enjoyed on October 23, 2005.
I attended a show called “DANSATIONS”. It was the most memorable event that I have been to in a long time. This was not your usual belly dance show. Antonia brought a little bit of Broadway to Baltimore! This show was a spectacular lineup of talented dancers featuring Jazz, Classical Indian, Brazilian Fusion, Salsa, Ballroom, Greek Folk Dancing and Lyrical Veil. All the dancers presented themselves with excitement, flair and elegance.
I was touched with the performance of SAMARA, when she took us back to enjoy her “Samara’s Senior Moment” looking back to her 31 years of dancing. It started with a very sweet aged woman reminiscing her younger years. Believe me when you say, it’s in your blood, it’s true. She still has it in hers; the performance was not that of a dancer in her 70’s, but of a youthful, wonderful, elegant dancer who really loves what she is doing. I truly enjoyed it!
Antonia brought the house down with the final performance of the evening when she danced to a live Greek/Turkish band ala 1970’s featuring the well renowned Kanounist Emin Gunduz! Antonia amazed everyone with her performance. It’s no wonder she’s called “Whirlwind!” Her energies filled the room as everyone there watched her amazing performance. What fun!
I have frequently enjoyed Antonia’s dance performance at Amer’s Café on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Amer
